Whatever your ability, there are a variety of walks available – the Northern Fell of Binsey or Skiddaw only 3 miles from Herdwick Croft. The area is known for the good quality walks around the Lakeland fells so there is something for everyone to enjoy. Mountain bikers can also discover the countryside with various wooded and forest areas.
For those with a golf interest, Cockermouth Golf Course can be found 2 miles away or there are horse riding facilities nearby. The fitness centre a mile away has a swimming pool but if fishing is your thing you can bring your rod and fish in the river running through the property.

Each of the accommodations are found to the North end of Bassenthwaite Lake near Keswick. Head along the A66 to Cockermouth where you will find Bassenthwaite Lake on your right after 5 miles and through the dual carriageway. Turn right towards Bothel and follow the signs for The Castle Inn. Cross the bridge over the River Derwent and you'll see Herdwick Croft in front of you.

Lake District B&B is a 1930's farmhouse which has been furnished to the highest standard with two en-suite rooms (one bath the other shower). There is a colour television, tea and coffee making facilities, clock radio and hairdryer for your convenience. Set in 300 acres of grassland, there are picturesque views out over the countryside and boundaries of the River Derwent and Bassenthwaite Lake viewed from the large bay windows. Using local produce, breakfast is served in the traditional dining room.
The Dairy B&B has been refurbished to the highest standard yet still retaining the traditional charm of the old building. With one bedroom, there's a double bed, colour television, and clock radio with the bathroom containing sink, toilet and shower. Guests can relax in the living area in front of the large colour television which can also be used as a bedroom with the sofa doubling as a sofa bed. During the summer, guests can dine out in the garden at the patio or enjoy a drink while relaxing surrounded by the flowers.
Lake District Caravan Site and Touring Park is a small but well equipped park within easy reach of everything the Lake District has to offer. With holiday homes for hire or space for your own caravan/touring vehicle there is a good range of facilities including hard standings, toilets and showers, electric hook-ups, chemical and waste water disposal, laundrette and shop where you can get your basic supplies and sweets. The static caravans we have can sleep up to six people and the Park has stunning views of the Lakeside Fells. Well behaved dogs and children are welcome. The Park is open 1st March to the end of October.
