Self Catering Cottage/Home/Apartment Description

Grange Farm is surrounded by beautiful countryside: woods, valleys, streams and rivers, with dry valleys cut out by the glacial melt waters which formed the landscapes we see today. Over the ridge are rolling acres of arable land producing much of our country's cereals and fresh produce.

Grange Farm comprises Holiday cottages, campsite and fishing lakes, which are set in the Lincolnshire Wolds - designated an area of outstanding natural beauty.

We love good dogs and are happy for your dog to come on holiday too, just as long as you bring its bed with you, keep him on a lead and clean up after him

Grange Farm's location really is ideal to reach the wide variety of attractions that Lincolnshire has to offer.

In the early 1990s the three holiday cottages were sympathetically converted from a former barn, and are brick built with exposed beams and brickwork, and the old original upper floor supports are still in place resting on the stone padstones The holiday cottages are graded by the English Tourist Board as three star self catering.

We opened the campsite in 2003 at the top of the big field, and it is licensed as a Caravan Club Certificated Location (CL) catering for five touring vans.

We have five hard standings all with electric hook up to 16 amp. There is also a grassed area for anyone preferring to be on grass.

In the barn there are separate male and female WCs and a shower. Visitors are welcome to use the laundry and other facilities in the barn too.

The Fishing Lakes were constructed in about 1993. They are about 100 yards from the cottages and campsite.

To the delights of our rural location, add peace and quiet and wildlife. You might see our Barn Owl, Meadow Pipit, Skylark, Tree Sparrow, House Sparrow, Woodpeckers Green and Pied, Kingfisher, Goldfinch, Yellowhammer, Blue Tits, Blackbirds, Thrush, Chaffinch, and more. Watch out for Deer, Fox, Weasel, Stoat, Vole, Water Vole, Rabbits and Hare.

Lastly, it is only a short stroll down the lane to our village pub and restaurant. They are open all day for food and drink.

Local Attractions

Lincoln our County City is 25 miles from Grange Farm and in the Bailgate area is the Cathedral which is built on the highest point. It is a magnificent beacon to visitors from afar. Nearby is the Castle built by William the Conqueror and home to the Magna Carta. The area between these buildings is the site of the Lincoln Christmas Market held each year in early December.

Lincolnshire Churches are amongst the best in the land. You will find Lincoln Cathedral a 'special place' and well worth a visit. The Boston Stump is famous for its high tower and St James' Church in Louth famous for its tall spire

Horncastle is 6 miles away and is famous for its Roman connections. Parts of the ancient wall can still be seen. Known in those times as Banovallum, the name is perpetuated in a variety of local names eg. Banovallum School and Banovallum Brass Band. It is also renowned for the many and varied Antique shops.

Alford is 10 miles away at the start of the coastal plain beneath the Wolds. Look for the Windmill and the Manor House, both open to the public. The Manor was recently re-opened after extensive renovation. This little town hosts Craft Fairs and Folk Festivals regularly.

The Coastal resorts of Skegness, Mablethorpe, Chapel St Leonards and Sutton Sea offer a diverse range of entertainment for young and old. You can enjoy the bright lights and funfair scene, donkey rides or a gentle stroll along the promenade. There are nature reserves to see bird life or the seals.

Aviation enthusiasts will know that Lincolnshire is known as the Bomber County of World War II. No less than 93 airfields could be found in the South and East of England during the War and some still exist today. Visit the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at RAF Coningsby and see one of the last flying Lancaster aircraft. The latest RAF fighter - the Eurofighter Typhoon has recently made this its base.

At RAF Scampton you will find the Red Arrows display team. This airfield was the home of the Dambuster Squadron and a memorial to them can be found in Woodhall Spa. Also in Woodhall Spa you will see the Petwood Hotel used by the RAF Officers.

If golf is your passion we are only 12 miles from the National Golf Centre which is the HQ for the English Golf Union in Woodhall Spa. These are golf courses at Kenwick Park near Louth, the Louth Golf Club and at West Ashby near Horncastle.

Cadwell Park Racing Circuit is nearby, about six miles and they have a good programme of events for both motorcycles and cars.
