Appleby-in-Westmorland is a historic market town close to Penrith with Castle, range of sports activities available, train station and the annual Appleby Horse Fair in early June which is a very popular attraction in the area. Penrith is a great town to do some shopping with the Cumbrian Farmers Market, specialist shops and a shopping arcade. Keswick too has numerous attractions with several museums and Lakeside offers the largest collection of freshwater fish at the Aquarium of the Lakes.
