The Isle of Skye is rich in plants and wildlife. It is an area of real natural beauty. Dolphins, whales, basking sharks, seals and sea otters can be seen together with birds of prey and a wide range of indigenous and visiting birds.
The stunning scenery makes it an ideal location for numerous walks and cycle rides and the Cuillin mountain range offers exceptionally good climbing for all levels. Many of the peaks can be accessed by experienced walkers.
At Sconser and Skeabost there are two golf courses open to non members, both of which can be booked in advance.
Skye is a small island and most places can be reached within the hour. Nearby are Neist Point Lighthouse, Dunvegan Castle, MacLeods Tables, the memorial cross of Flora McDonald, Skye Cottage Museum, Skye Silver, the Toy Museum, and several galleries. Information can be provided for all the main attractions, sports and activities on the island.
Pricing Guide
Nightly Price: £30.00 to £50.00
From April to October we charge £10.00 per day extra for a single person occupying a double room.
Three course evening meal with coffee and shortbread £12.00 per person.
Prices for shorter periods on request.
In low season special rates can be negotiated for extended stays in both the guesthouse and self catering accommodation.

Carters Rest is a charming and welcoming purpose built guest house situated in Milovaig on the stunning west coast of the Isle of Skye. Overlooking the Little Minch and Loch Pooltiel, it boasts stunning views to the cliffs of Dunvegan Head and the islands of North Uist and Harris on the Outer Hebrides.
Carters Rest offer double and twin rooms. All are en-suite and tastefully decorated with tea making facilities, flat screen television and ironing facilities. There are laptops with wireless access in some bedrooms. Each en suite has a power shower, razor point, hairdryer and the master bedroom has a Jacuzzi bath.
The Isle of Skye is everything you would imagine it to be and more. Skye is renown for it's outstanding natural beauty and history. Wildlife is abound on the Island and hills, such as Cuillin Hills, the Red Hills are a must for climbers.
As a qualified chef, Freddie (co-owner) will prepare you good quality traditional Scottish fare using home grown and fresh local ingredients where possible. What's more, you will enjoy your meal relaxing in the dining room which has spectacular views over the bay. Wines, beers and spirits are available to all our guests.
After a busy day exploring the Island you can relax by a wood burning stove in the residents lounge. The lounge has a laptop, television with DVD player, a writing desk and a good selection of books and maps of the area while the adjoining games room houses a pool table, dart board and other activities for an evening or rainy day. The dining room, situated in the sun lounge, offers the most phenomenal views across the bay.
We offer real added value bu providing free leisure equipment. We offer a selection of bicycles, 2 Electric scooters (road legal) for adults only, Fishing rods (sea and game) - a small charge may be made for line and flies.Powerful spotting scope, Binoculars, Metal detector (to find Bonnie Prince Charlie's treasure!!), Selection of kites, Set of French boules, Picnic Chairs, Cool Box, Flasks and a Rucksack.
