Fishermen can drop of their fish to be smoked at Bywell fish and game smokery and if you are leaving before they're done, they can be sent to you (within the UK). Fishing can be enjoyed at Langley Dam and Sweethope.
Cyclists can plan a trip along Hadrian's Cycleway Route 72, the 174 mile route between South Shields and Ravenglass and walkers have a range of routes in Northumberland, Cumbria and The Borders in which to explore the area.

Rooms are provided with a colour television, en-suite bathrooms with large showers and heated towel rails and a well stocked hospitality tray for refreshments. Rooms are decorated to a high standard and are clean and comfortable so you should have no trouble relaxing after a long day.
The B&B has parking available and a secure shed for cycles. Guests, in particular fishermen, cyclists and walkers can make use of the drying facilities, puncture repair kit, storage for fishing equipment and gutting facilities which include a large sink and sharp knives. Laundry services and packed lunches can also be provided.
The Reading Rooms B&B is a non smoking Bed and Breakfast and no pets are allowed except guide dogs.
