Castle / Stately Home Description
Built in 1870 Glenapp Castle was carefully restored retaining the charm and character of the original building and opened as a 5 star luxury hotel in 2000. A member of Relais & Châteaux since 2001, the castle is one of the finest country house hotels in the UK with AA Three Rosettes for Cuisine.
The Castle has 17 luxury bedrooms each bright and airy with tall elegant Victorian windows, en-suite facilities with Penhaligon toiletries, direct dial telephone, wireless broadband access (T-Mobile Hotspot), TV, video, CD and DVD players. Many still have their original fireplaces with real flame fires and stunning views over the gardens and/or the coastline.
The Master Rooms are palatial in size with ornate cornicing and separate sitting rooms while all bedrooms and public areas are furnished with antiques and fine oil paintings to the very highest standard. Welcoming children of all ages the ground floor family suite has connecting bedrooms with en-suite facilities and East Wing Suites with double sofa beds. Most rooms can also accommodate one or more roll-away beds and there is a range of DVDs, books, videos and games for young children.
Dining in the evening is a unique experience as you watch the sun set over Ailsa Craig and the Mull of Kintyre. Awarded AA Three Rosettes for Cuisine, the six course gourmet menu changes daily using the freshest local produce including fruit, vegetables and herbs from the castle gardens.
Glenapp Castle Gardens are completely secluded and only for the use of castle guests. There is a wide range of unusual plants and shrubs including rhododendrons and paths to stroll alongside the azalea pond and through woodland to the walled garden. Guests are welcome to a game of tennis on the all weather court or a game of croquet on the lawn.
Glenapp Castle offers guests the use of the spa facilities at a spa just five minutes from the hotel. The luxury facilities are available to guests with payment of an entry fee to the usually private membership spa. Facilities include a 15 metre Level Deck Pool with disappearing horizon, Aromatic Steam Room, Sauna and fully equipped Fitness Suite with qualified personal fitness instructors and latest Technogym equipment. A full range of spa, make-up and beauty treatments are available and can be booked through Glenapp Castle.
The fairytale castle offers a magnificent venue for your wedding with its views over the Irish Sea, Isle of Arran, the Mull of Kintyre and Ailsa Craig. Open from mid-March until January 2nd the castle can be used exclusively for groups – weddings, corporate and incentive groups, sporting groups and private family groups.
