Alston is England's highest market town with traditional cobbled streets, heritage railway, local crafts and great places to eat. Children can enjoy the playgrounds, indoor soft play and the petting farm close to Wellhopegill Cottage and cyclists will find the Coast to Coast Cycle Route within ¼ mile of the cottage.
The region includes the Lake District with a wide variety of attractions and things to do or you can travel east to Newcastle for the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, Angel of the North and Metrocentre Shopping Centre. For a historical trip, Durham Cathedral and Hadrian's Wall are perfect places to visit.

Self Catering Cottage/Home/Apartment Description
Sleeping 4-6, Wellhopegill Cottage provides the perfect place to stay in Cumbria with extra thought put into the cottage facilities for those with children. The rooms include a master double bedroom, twin en-suite and there's a double sofa bed in the lounge and a cot available. The cottage also has a master bathroom. Linen, towels and welcome tray are provided for your arrival.
The lounge has retained the charm of the original building with beams and wood/coal stove and the views across the garden and valley are breathtaking. You can cook a delicious meal in the kitchen which includes washer/dryer, dishwasher and microwave.
Guests with small children will find a range of toys, games, videos as well as a high chair, cot and child friendly cutlery and crockery. We've created a 'Things to do' book which includes family friendly activities such as visiting the horses in the field by the back garden or horse riding and mountain biking.
Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate smokers or pets at Wellhopegill Cottage.
