Boats and dinghies can be hired with trips up the river to Dittisham and Tuckenhay where you can enjoy a drink at the pub. Walking is popular in the area with picturesque views of the coastline only 7 miles away or hiking along Darmoor. Blackpool Sands is an award winning beach with the best facilities.
There are castles nearby including Totnes, Berry Pomeroy, Dartmouth, Powderham and Compton, Adventure parks including Crealy Adventure Zone and Pennywell Farm Adventure, steam railways – Buckfastleigh to Totnes and Kingswear to Torbay and numerous stately homes and gardens. The area offers plenty of places to eat and drink which include pubs and restaurants.

From Exeter on the M5 and A38 (dual carriageway), take the right up Telegraph Hill signposted Plymouth. Continue past Ashburton and at Buckfastleigh bear left on the A384 to Totnes.
At the traffic lights turn right onto the A381 for Kingsbridge and Dartmouth and at Halwell village turn left just before the Old Inn Pub next to the church for the A3122 to Darmouth. Turn left after 400 metres at the top of the hill and continue for a mile taking the first turning on the right signposted “Collaton- no through road” where you will find Lower Collaton Farm 200 metres on the left.
If you reach the Forces Tavern you've passed us so turn round and take the first turning on your left.

Self Catering Cottage/Home/Apartment Description
Lower Collaton Farm is located in the heart of the South Hams.
The Farmhouse offers bed and breakfast accommodation with 3 en-suite rooms – 2 double and 1 twin. The Garden Bedroom (twin) offers easy accessibility on the ground floor with views to the rose garden and lawn and the twin beds can be zipped together to make a large double. The Master Bedroom and Sunlit Room have views out over the field where the sheep graze and the Sunlit Room can be linked with the Courtyard Room to create a family room with bathroom. Each bedroom contains colour TV, WC, washbasin and tea and coffee making facilities.
Breakfast includes either a Continental or Devonshire breakfast with yoghurts, cereal and toast made from homemade bread and marmalade. Eggs are fresh from the farm with locally sourced bacon or you could have locally smoked haddock with a poached egg. The guest sitting room has a TV, games, books and magazines to help you unwind after a day exploring.
The Stables is at the opposite end of the courtyard and provides upside down living arrangements. The ground floor has a large double room, twin room, bathroom and laundry facilities while upstairs on the first floor there is the open plan living area with sofa, chairs, fully equipped kitchen and dining area. Children are welcome and we can supply a cot and high chair plus there is a stair gate installed. Guests can sit outside on the patio and enjoy a barbeque during good weather and there is parking available.
The Old Granary offers the perfect accommodation for a romantic getaway. Only suitable for 2, bird watchers and walkers will also find it a great place to stay with its upside down style. Stylishly furnished there is under floor heating and partially exposed walls which add to the character of the building. The Old Granary has a double room and wet room decorated with marble and mosaic with toilet and modern basin. Upstairs there are views over the courtyard from the peep hole, well equipped kitchen, cosy dining room and you can unwind in the living area with TV and video.
Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate dogs in any of the properties – we did ask the sheep!
