Eurocottage is also not far from lakes Conn and Cullen for additional fishing with trout, salmon and large pike. Boat trips from Westport, Achill and Killala can be arranged for sea anglers or shore fishing. There are 700km of Mayo coastline with sandy beaches, cliffs, islands, rocky shores and off shore reefs with 50 species regularly caught from the waters.
In many local pubs, traditional music is played with fiddles, flutes, whistles, accordions, uilleann pipes and bodhrans. There are many Arts festivals throughout the year and Irish dances.
The area is rich in history with attractions including Round Towers and churches. Visit Kylemore Abbey built in the late 1800s, Crogagh Patrick at Westport and Ireland's holiest mountain, Knock Shrine Ireland's national Marian Shrine, Ballintubber Abbey from 1216 and The Ceide Fields from over 5000 years ago and the oldest known field system in the world.
There are a wide range of golf courses in the area including the famous links courses at Carne and Enniscrone or the courses at Claremorris, Westport and Mulranny.

Arriving in Castlebar, continue straight ahead at the first roundabout to the second with Cathal Duffy on the corner. Continue straight ahead again to the third roundabout and take the second exit for Newport/Achill. Pass the petrol station and McDonalds. At the fourth roundabout at McDonalds, continue straight ahead to the crossroad with traffic lights and continue straight ahead again. Pass the big church on your right to the small crossroad and go straight on to the next crossroad with the pub John McHale on the left corner. Turn left to the fork.
Take the left arm for Pontoon (the R310) and follow this road for 5 miles where you'll then reach the village of Ross. Continue straight ahead at the small crossroad with the post office and your right and about 1 mile ahead turn right at the crossroad (L5700) and drive slowly. You will pass a bungalow and a two story house on your left and reach a T-Junction. Turn left and pass the 2 bungalows on your left then take the first small road left. Carefully follow the small path to the T-Junction and turn right through a small farm. Eurocottage is signposted at the next small junction. Turn left then at the next fork take the right arm signposted Eurocottage.

Eurocottage Ltd offers a luxurious 3 bedroom bungalow and 2 bedroom cottage on the Derryhick Lake shore at the end of a quiet lane situated between Castlebar and Pontoon in Co. Mayo.
The three bedroom bungalow has been fully renovated and decorated in a warm but modern style with central heating. The kitchen/dining room is fully equipped with everything you will need for a self catering break in Ireland including cooker with oven, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, electric kettle, toaster, coffee percolator, microwave and pine table and chairs. Relax in the sitting room with its two leather couches, an open fire and colour TV. The three bedrooms are individually decorated: one with a double bed, one with two single beds and the third with bunk beds. There are built in or free standing wardrobes in each and the bathroom has both bath and electric shower.
The two bedroom cottage dates back to 1910 and is fully renovated combining both the character of the old style with modern comforts including double glazing and central heating. The fully equipped kitchen/dining room includes cooker with oven, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, electric kettle, toaster, radio, coffee percolator, microwave and pine dining table. The sitting room has a solid fuel stove and colour television. There is a master double bedroom with free standing wardrobe and the second bedroom with bunk bed and wardrobe.

There is a stone built shed next to the cottages for guests to safely store wet clothes, fishing tackle etc.
