Local Attractions
Here in an area bounded by Bath, Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon is a warm and appealing countryside, with some of the finest landscape in England. Gently undulating hills and tree-lined valleys rise gently from the green meadows of the upper reaches of the Thames to the dramatic limestone escarpment which is (quite literally) the high point of the Cotswolds. From here the hills slope down dramatically into Evesham Vale and the Vale of Severn.
Cotswold towns and villages such as Burford, Bibury and Bourton-on-the-Water are famous all over the world and epitomise the English rural scene. Each stands on a famous Cotswold river, the Windrush and the Coln, typical of so many Cotswold communities which have grown up over centuries in these attractive river valleys running down through the hills.
There is a wide range of attractions to suit all these tastes and more. Exploring the real Cotswolds at any time of year is a rewarding experience, each season throwing a different light on the ever-changing scene.

Restaurant
Dining is always a pleasure at the Mayfield House Hotel. Our award-winning restaurant with its warm, welcoming ambience and friendly staff specializes in English cuisine.
All our food is home produced by our team of talented chefs, lead by the enthusiastic Head Chef Nick Batstone, boasting some 15 years experience here at the Mayfield House. Using the freshest seasonal ingredients and herbs from our own gardens, our menu is seasonally balanced with the majority of our produce sourced locally from our Bromyard Beef, to Bibury Duck or Bath Blue Cheese!
A glass of wine? Your hosts will be happy to recommend a personal favourite – our wine cellar is sourced from the multi-award winning Great Western Wines of Bristol – UK's leading independent fine wine supplier and gently changes wit the seasons.
The bar, where you can enjoy a quiet pre-dinner drink, provides an ideal venue for meeting friends. It is the perfect place to relax after visiting the local attractions or preparing for that business meeting the night before.
