Gretna Green is just a few minutes from Barrasgate House and the most famous marriage destination in the world. There is much to do in Gretna Green including visiting the Old Blacksmith's shop. Spend the day in Carlisle for shopping, Carlisle Castle, Prior's Tower, Cathedral and Tullie House museum.
The River Esk meanders through Cumbria, Dumfries and Galloway providing a great place for salmon fishing while the Solway Firth is ideal for bird watchers and animal lovers with toads, newts and even rare plants. Red squirrels can also be spotted in Dumfries and Galloway.
The National Cycle Network and The 7 Stanes Forrest bike tracks are close to the bed and breakfast and the Lake District National Park whether you'd prefer to explore the area by bike or on foot. Hadrian's Wall runs nearby with forts, museums and a Mitharaic temple along its path.

Follow the M6 as it becomes the A74 and take the junction off the A74 signposted for Gretna and Longtown A6071. Turn right and follow the signs for Longtown for about a mile taking the second junction on the left for Gretna Green and Springfield. You'll find Barrasgate Bed and Breakfast first house on the left.
From the North:
Exit the M74 at junction 22 for Gretna Green and Longtown. At the roundabout continue straight ahead following signs for Longtown and turn right at the second roundabout still following signs for Longtown. Continue on this road for about 1.5 miles, past a farm, bungalows and Barrasgate is on the right.

Barrasgate House Bed and Breakfast provides high quality 3 star accommodation in Gretna Green. The clean, comfortable and modern B&B bedrooms each have en-suite facilities, full central heating, TV, Wi-Fi internet connection, clock radio, hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities.
There are double rooms, a twin and a family room sleeping 3 available. The Cumbria Suite has one double and two single bunk beds and double sofa bed in the conservatory. Each room enjoys views over the garden to the farmland beyond. Only the finest cotton sheets and pillow cases are used to ensure you enjoy a relaxing night's sleep and each room is at least 100ft from the road and double glazed.
In the morning you can enjoy a traditional Scottish breakfast (Vegetarian alternatives available) using fresh local produce including cured bacon, Cumberland sausage and Scottish haggis. There's are home made jams, preserves and yoghurts and there's a selection of cereals, porridge, fresh fruit, poached or scrambled egg, baked beans, kippers, cooked meats, tea coffee, hot chocolate, milk and fruit juice to help satisfy your taste buds. We are happy to cater for any special dietary requirements – just let us know in advance.
We are also able to serve light suppers in the evening if you can let us know in advance and packed lunches if you let us know what you'd like the day before and we can get it ready for you.
