Lake District Self Catering offers two 5 star self catering properties in the southern Lake District. The Grade II holiday properties provide a luxurious place to stay for larger groups welcoming children and pets. Hardcragg Hall in Grange-over-Sands sleeps up to 14 and Ford House in Cartmel sleeps up to 10.


Hardcragg Hall is set within ¾ acre gardens in Grange-over-Sands offering the perfect holiday accommodation for family and friends of up to 14 people. Rooms are spacious: seven bedrooms with views overlooking the garden and sea, five of which have en-suite facilities and two sharing a large family bathroom. Luxury Egyptian cotton bed linen and fluffy towels are provided with complimentary toiletries.

The Manor House has a rich history dating back 400 years with visits from Beatrix Potter and Oliver Cromwell still retaining much of its charm and character with oak panelled rooms, mullioned windows and log fires with modern facilities for a comfortable and luxury stay.

With dining room, drawing room, breakfast room and entrance hall the whole group can gather comfortably. There's a ¾ sized snooker table for the adults as well as four LCD TVs, DVD, video players, film library, books, games, CD music centres, and games, books, films and toys for the children. The farmhouse kitchen is very well equipped with four oven Aga, gas hob, double oven, dishwasher, microwave and fridge while the utility room includes washing machine, tumble dryer, freezer and ample space. From the conservatory there are views out over the ¾ acre landscaped gardens with large patio, BBQ, dining tables and chairs to seat 14 and views over the sea.


Ford House is a recently refurbished country style self catering accommodation in the village of Cartmel just beside the River Eea. There are five bedrooms with memory foam mattresses to accommodate up to 10 people, one room with en-suite facilities and luxury family bathrooms on each floor. Egyptian cotton bed linen, fluffy towels and complimentary toiletries are provided. With exposed beams, real fires and farmhouse flag floor the house is filled with character but under floor heating and brand new kitchen provide added luxury for a relaxing stay in the Lake District.

When you are not out exploring the area you can relax indoors or out with three flat screen televisions, Freeview, DVD, video player, films, books and games and the dining room with under floor heating has iPod dock / CD music centre. The newly fitted kitchen has the latest electric range style 4 oven cooker and 5 burner hob, larder with integrated fridge, fitted dishwasher and microwave and utility room with 4 drawer freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, vacuum cleaner, ironing board and iron, high chair and travel cot. The cloakroom and WC downstairs are perfect for drying wet and muddy clothing and footwear with under floor heating. Outside the large walled garden is safe for children and pets with gas BBQ and outdoor seating for 10. Coal and wood and stored in the shed at the end of the garden.


Both properties have the option of including a catering service at an extra cost, whether fully catered or a celebratory dinner. Please ask for further details when booking.

There is level access to both Hardcragg Hall and Ford House but there are no ground floor bedrooms or disabled facilities in bathrooms. There is public parking available in the square next to Ford House, adjacent to the priory or in the racecourse car park 200m away.
