Ideally situated within 100 acres of farmland, Rock House Estate offers many things to see and do. Walking is one of the most popular activities whether it's down to the pub 20 minutes away, up the fell to make the most of the view to Hadrian's Wall and Scotland beyond or something more challenging. There are Ordinance Survey maps provided in each cottage. If you don't fancy walking there is pony trekking, golf, swimming, quad biking, climbing, canyoning, caving and mine exploration. The area is rich and wildlife with deer spotted from the cottages, Alpacas next door or the variety of birdlife to watch.
There are many places to see from the Lake District to Hadrian's Wall. Alston, Bowes Museum at Barnard Castle, Diggerland, Durham with its Cathedral and Castle, the High Force Waterfall and Beamish Museum are also well worth visiting.

Weekly Price: £425.00 to £720.00
Shortbreak Price: £320.00 to £720.00
A £100 deposit (50% of balance over Christmas) is required to secure a booking due within 7 days of receiving the confirmation form by cheque. The balance is then due 8 weeks prior to stay.
Unfortunately we are unable to accept Credit Card payments.
A refundable bond of £25 will be repaid within 7 days of departure if there is no damage to the property or contents.
Pets are welcome charged at £20 per week / part week, per pet.

From Glasgow take the A74M to J44 for Carlisle. The A689 towards Brampton, A69 towards Newcastle and turn right for the A689 to Alston.
From Edinburgh: take the A68 to Corbridge, A69 west towards Carlisle then turn left just before Haydon Bridge. Take the A689 to Langley Castle and Alston.
From Tyneside take the A69 past Hexham and turn left just before Haydon Bridge then take the A689 to Langley Castle and Alston.
From Manchester/Midlands: take the M6 to J40 at Penrith then take the A689 to Alston.
From London: take the M6 or M1/A1 depending on traffic.
From Scotch corner take the A66 then B6277 to Alston. If the weather is bad follow the A1 and take the A68 then A689.
From Alston: take the A689 for 2.5 miles towards Nenthead and turn left. There is a brown tourist sign just after the Nenthall Hotel for Rock House Estate.
From Nenthead take the a689 for 2 miles towards Alston and turn right before the hotel - you should see the brown tourist sign for Rock House Estate.
From the tourist sign: follow the lane up the hill and round to the right for about 1.5 miles. On the right surrounded by trees is Greenends, then the white house is Rock House Farm. The reception is the owners house, Valley View.

Sunrise offers the perfect place to stay for families with pets. There's a four poster double bedroom and en-suite bathroom and a twin bedroom downstairs plus a large landing with space for a cot or a child's folding bed. There is also a shower room and a sauna downstairs.
Unwind in the lounge with its 2 and 3 seater sofas, armchair, multi fuel stove, TV with video and DVD players and Freesat digital channels. DVDs, videos, toys and games are provided. The kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher, fridge, chest freezer and electric cooker with views out over the valley.
Relax outside in the enclosed garden which is popular with dog owners. A water bowl, clean-up bags, ball thrower and doggie towel are provided by us. The views from the garden are just stunning.
Sunrise can be booked with Rock House Estate's 4 other cottages (Rock House Farm, Nentside Barn, Writers Cottage and Ramblers Rest) for large groups looking to sleep 34 plus 3 cots.
