Less than half an hour from The Thatches is Dartmoor, a paradise for walkers or those who enjoy pony trekking. Various wildlife parks are in the area, as are National Trust
properties and the famous Buckfast Abbey. Golfers and Fishermen can indulge their hobbies locally, while those who like to 'mess about in boats' can do so at Salcombe.
Holidays are always closely associated with the sea, and The Thatches is less than ten minutes from beautiful award winning beaches. Bigbury on Sea is ideal for all ages. At low tide you can stroll across the sands to explore Burgh Island and if you miss the tide you can catch the amazing sea tractor back again.

Directions
At Exeter the M5 continues into the A38. Travel for about 30 minutes. After passing Buckfastleigh, continue for approximately 5 miles until you pass The Woodpecker Inn on the left.
Take the next turning left off the A38 signposted to Modbury, Ugborough etc. At the end of the slip road there is a T-junction.
Turn left again. Continue for 1 mile to crossroads, then straight over and continue on for a further 3 miles. At California Cross there is a garage and a pub.
Take the second turning left past the garage, signposted Aveton Gifford and Bigbury. Proceed for another 2 miles and The Thatches is on the right.

The private Leisure Complex is complete with a fitness suite, indoor heated swimming pool and a Laundry Room. The glass doors around the pool are retractable and open on to a sunbathing terrace where the Hot Tub is situated. There are also indoor/outdoor play areas, and a woodland walk.
Unlike some holiday villages, we are open for 12 months of the year, and you can use your property for 11 months.
