Muncaster is one of Britain's most haunted castles offering a great day out for all the family in the Lake District. The Tapestry Room is frequently haunted with various reports of cries and singing. Overnight Ghost Sits and Ghost Vigils are offered providing information on Tom Fool aka Tom Skelton the court jester in the 16th century.

Built in 1140, Muncaster Church today still hosts weddings and is open daily to those seeking a place to reflect and pray.

The 18th century gardens have Europe's largest collections of Rhododendron's and working towards protecting endangered plants and trees. There are stunning views towards Ravenglass, over the Esk Valley towards England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike. In the Georgian Terrace there are thousands of trees, grand entrance gates and alternating yew pillar and box hedges. The 70 acres of the Sino Himalayan Gardens have plants from all over the world and you can buy plants from the Muncaster Plant Centre with 200 varieties on offer.

Muncaster's World Owl Centre offers one of the largest collections of birds of prey with over 40 different types of large and small owls. Meet the Birds displays daily offer you the chance to get up close to the birds and there is heron feeding during Heron Happy Hour. You can adopt an owl of your choice with the money covering the cost of food for a year.

For Weddings and Celebrations, Muncaster offers the perfect backdrop. Our wedding co-ordinator is there to help you through every detail ensuring your big day goes as planned. You will have exclusive use of the rooms of your choice and no other weddings or events will be booked on the same day. There is a full choice of menus for a 3 course dinner, the rooms of your choice for the ceremony or reception, flower arrangements, log fires when needed, car parking and CD player for background music. A bar can be provided or you can have your own drinks stored, chilled and served for a small service charge.

For children there are endless amounts of fun with MeadowVole Maze where children can guide Max safely home and real wild flower meadow. The Maze is designed for children so they won't get lost and could win a prize. School groups are very welcome with 1 hour history tours for up to 20 and 30 to 40 minute Owl Tours. Muncaster Interactive provides computer information points with games, quizzes, facts and figures with 12 workstations available in the Old Dairy.

For Corporate events, the 77 acre woodland gardens for perfect for meetings, conferences, events and product launches. Whether there are 2 or 100 delegates for informal meetings, formal conferences, team building or training days, Muncaster has a range of rooms and facilities.

Throughout the year there are a range of special events held from Medieval Weekends to Halloween Week and Christmas at the Castle.
