History....
Records show that the history of "The Star Inn" goes back to the 1700s when it was known as "The Swan" or "The Black Swan".
There is a reference to it being a hostelry in 1710, when an affluent party of people on a 'tour of England' called in at the village of Geddington.
They wrote in their diaries "we must not forbear to mention the excellent beer that we met there".
The Star Inn was always a hive of activity playing a significant role in the community.
It was known to have always kept a stable, with a loose box open for the doctor's horse.
John Abbott passed the tenancy of The Star over to Fred Croot in 1864.
On his death it went to his widow Annie Croot who died in 1895.
At this stage in the life of The Star it was sold to Messrs, Phipps & Co. brewers of Northampton for the sum of 1,800.
Further to this, numerous landlords had taken over the running of the Inn.
Today, The Star has taken on a new lease of life and is still flourishing after being in existence almost 300 years.
