UK REGION GUIDE

Find things to do in this Region
A fascinating range of attractions awaits those who discover Northern Ireland. A lush unspoilt landscape with misty mountains and a dramatic coastline that has some lovely beaches like those at Portrush and Ballycastle.

The Giant's Causeway with its 40,000 six sided basalt columns is simply fascinating. While the science centre at Armagh with its planetarium and visual shows is very educational. Those with a head for heights will love to climb the tower in Scrabo Country Park, the view from the top is breathtaking. Also for those with strong nerves is the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, which spans an 800 foot chasm. There are some lovely places to walk around Lough Neagh, which is surrounded by nature reserves where hides are provided for bird watchers.

Great shopping facilities, bars, and restaurants can be found in many places including Belfast. It is here that you will also find the Castle and a botanic garden complete with palm house and a tropical ravine. The Grand Old Opera House puts on shows of ballet, opera or dance, making it a perfect place for a night out.

There's a wonderful arboretum at Castlewellan and a chance to see pottery being made at Beleek. Add these together with subterranean limestone caves and glass engraving at Tyrone and you will agree that this region has a lot to offer.
